Syracuse climbs to No. 1 in latest Top 25

After a stirring win over Villanova Saturday night -- Syracuse's 14th win in its last 15 games -- the Orange have climbed back to No. 1 in the USA TODAY/ESPN coaches' poll.

The appearance at No. 1 is Syracuse's first during the regular season since the first week of January 1990. (They were ranked No. 1 in the post-tournament poll following their run to the national title in 2003.)

Kansas and Kentucky, which were 1-2 in last week's poll, each slide down one spot and land at second and third, respectively.

Duke, which has won eight straight games, climbs up to No. 4, followed by Kansas State.

The No. 5 ranking is the highest ever for Kansas State.

Purdue, which was No. 3 before losing to Michigan State Sunday, slipped three spots to land at No. 6. Ohio State, West Virginia, Villanova and New Mexico round out the Top 10.
